  1. I have a friend who I'm trying to get a SLIP connection hooked up for.  I got 
  2. TCP manager running, then log on with the script file just fine.  Everything 
  3. seems fine, until he tries to start a program like Trumpet NewsReader.  Then, 
  4. the modem drops carrier for no apparent reason.  I've tried this with Trumpet 
  5. NewsReader, and WS_FTP, so I don't think it's any of the specific apps.  He 
  6. has a Digicom SoftModem which is set up for 14.4kbps.  There's some software 
  7. controller--perhaps that's what's interfering.  Any help would be appreciated,
